Join us for Carnivale 2010!

17 March 2010

Taste. Watch. Dance. Play.

Starting May 20, 2010, Port Douglas will be buzzing with the annual Carnivale festivities. Over the following ten days, visitors to Port Douglas will enjoy a series of events that are designed to delight the senses and appeal everyone's idea of fun and entertainment.

Here's a small sample of what's on offer:

The Macrossan Street Parade has long been a highlight of the Carnivale festival and regularly draws crowds of up to several thousand who line the high street to cheer for their sports teams, their corporate floats and, usually, their friends and colleagues.

The 2010 Port Douglas Golf Challenge Cup is a testament to the golfing prowess of the region and is a 40cm high polished cup that is eagerly contested. The game is an Ambrose event played in shotgun style at 11am on the 24th and 25th of May.

The 2010 Family Beach Day will offer up a lively array of tropical sights, sounds and activities this year as part of the annual Port Douglas Carnivale on Saturday, May 29th. Want to try your hand at kite surfing, kayaking, outrigger racing, sand castle building or beach cricket? Or just laze around and watch the Yachts competing out in front? It’ll all be there.

Songs and Stories by the Campfire is a free family event held in the grassed area beside the Surf-lifesaving Club. Bush Poetry recitals, performances by The Hillbilly Goats and shaggy dog stories will be told over Billie Tea and Damper. Bring a blanket and enjoy the evening.
